The Heart of Arrow

Image
Arrow is more than a fantasy adventure show, though it is that. It is more than one man slaying the world's dragons, though it is that.  The heartbeat of Arrow, the thing that keeps the show moving forward and living, is the love story between Oliver and Felicity, though it is even more than a love story.  In  every hero's tale the hero needs something  to fight for, but the hero needs to grow and become a better person.  Every tale well told needs the characters to grow.  Oliver and Felicity have changed each other.  Each season a new layer  of Oliver has peeled away.  In season one Oliver didn't think he needed  anyone.  He had closed himself off to any kind of feeling for others.  He was all about marking  names off a list, yet by the end of the season, he had  come to see beyond those names.  Diggle  helped Oliver to do that, but it was  Felicity's light that shined  bright.  Her ability to selflessly love.  As we've seen from Diggle's backstory, he had

Possible ending for season 7

If Canadagraphs is correct that Monitor was present at the filming of season 7 finale, then I have a possible way to have the seventh season end. Canadagraphs is known for being reliable so assuming they were correct, then my guess is that in order to save Felicity’s life Oliver takes her away to the cabin. There she gives birth to Mia with Oliver by her side. We know from what Stephen has stated that he will be in few episodes of season 8. We also know that the Crossover is to be huge as they began advertising it since the last crossover. My guess has always  been that the sole reason for season 8 is to  lead to the  crossover  event. We also know that many will die. Rumor has it that Supergirl could be a life lost. She could be replaced by Superman. They seemed to lay the foundation for that. We suspect Oliver made some sort of deal with Monitor so what if he shows up at the end of season 7 to take Oliver to his realm? Oliver would be alive but missing for 20 years. Felicity’s al

A Heroes Journey of Sacrifice

As I have written before, I have always felt that Arrow has been about a hero's journey similar to Homer's Odyssey.    A hero longing for home, but that search for home and being a hero in the light comes with great sacrifice.  Both and Oliver and Felicity  are heroes, and both have made sacrifices, but none more than Oliver.              In season one Oliver  lost Tommy, his best friend, but in that loss, it changed his course.  He would fight a different way.  With every sacrifice there is growth.  In season 2 Oliver lost his mother, but in enduring that loss he found Felicity and her love which gave him strength.  In  season 3, Oliver lost his  identity and nearly his life,  but he found out what he really wanted from his life.  In season 4, he lost Felicity, but he found out  that honesty could have opened closed doors.  He learned to open his heart.  In season 5, he nearly lost his soul with Adrian Chase's torture, and the mother of his son died, causing him nearly t

Spartan: Arrow 719 Review

This episode gave us some backstory on John Diggle.  The story gave us interesting insights  into John's past, and was perfectly  executed by both David Ramsey and  Ernie Hudson.   I would like to see more of these two on screen. It might have been nice to see them back in season  one or  two.  We  also learn more about Felicity's Archer Program, and of  course we see everything moving  swiftly  towards the end  of season 7 and then end of Emily Bett Rickards as  Felicity Smoak. I'm still hoping that she'll guest star at least once in  season 8, don't you?  Well, let's dig in.    John and General Stewart:  John kept a secret from Felicity and Oliver. Did that surprise you?  It did  me a little bit. Although this  story line is very compelling and  certainly well acted, it seems like it would have been  better served  if  we had  gotten even just a  little hint earlier  on in the seasons.  Even Felicity comments, "We are just finding  this out now?"

The Best of Felicity Smoak

Now that we know the series has come close the end, I thought I'd post my favorite Emily episodes.  I'm sorry that I don't have a lot of  images, but my antiquated computer doesn't like photos anymore. Anyway,  please leave your thoughts as to which  ones I should have added.  It's fun to know what you like.   1. 103 Lone Gunman, we meet Felicity Smoak for the first time.  This  was to be the one-off for Emily Bett, but her comedic time coupled with chemistry created with Stephen Amell endeared her to the audience.  Felicity Smoak won our hearts. We couldn't wait to see her again. 2.  109 Vertigo, Felicity brings the troubling news about Moria to Oliver. First she asks  Oliver if  she can trust him.  He makes light of it at first, but then he gets serious and tells her she can.  She has the book with the list of names that Oliver has.  He asks  her where she got it and  she tells him that Walter found it and  it was his mother's.  We have the ico
