Fundamentals Arrow 618 Review

Image
This ranks as one of my  all time favorite episodes.   The acting, the direction, by Ben Bray, the lighting, well, just about everything happened  like a  perfectly choreographed dance.  Stephen Amell played  his  role to perfection. I love old  movies, and one of the reasons I  do is  because so often the actors spoke pages of  dialogue  just with  their  face.  (If you've never seen Ronald  Coleman in Random Harvest, you should give it a  try.)  Very few modern actors do this with  success  and  emotion.  Stephen  Amell succeeded in this  episode.  My format will  be a little different in this review,  because this episode was unique in that I think this serves to set up the movement forward to the end  of the season. The action begins immediately.  We  see Oliver dressed as  sea...

Thoughts on Stephen Amells Two Truths and a Lie

Image
I've been thinking about Stephen Amell's two truths and a lie.  To remind the readers the three statements Stephen made were : Oliver and Slade have a talk in present day.  Diggle deploys his gun, it doesn't fire and he misses  someone. Thea and Oliver have a talk in present day.   Stephen has confirmed that Manu Bennett will return in several episodes as Slade Wilson, so unless they are just flashbacks that he will  be in, then this would seem like the likely truth.  Diggle deploying his gun and having it not fire seems rather unlikely knowing Diggle skill as a soldier.  I know military men having been around them all my life, and they know how to keep their weapons in working order, so on the surface this would seem like the lie.    Thea having a talk with Oliver in present day, would be a truth if she survived the island, as we all think.  However I think back to Marc Guggenheim's talk, which you can find on this site, and he said ...

Oliver Queen to sport a Goatee

Image
Stephen Amell titled this twitter post as Season  6 training.  Will Oliver have a goatee as did the comic book  character? Also, along with Mericle mentioning that Helix will play a role in the upcoming season (let's hope seasons), Emily Bett Rickards mentioned that Smoak Technologies will become a reality.  Will it be this season?  She didn't say, but I am guess they may be building towards that.  I keep going back to the Underneath episode.  When the chip failed and Curtis fixed it, he mentioned that he had to work on some of the kinks.  I can't remember his words exactly, but what if in the explosion, the chip fails gain, and  Curtis turns up missing, presumed dead, and Felicity goes back into the wheelchair?  I  could see it play a out for a few episodes that way, and then when Curtis is found,  he begins to work on getting the chip fixed, and this could all lead to Smoak Technologies.  Does that sound feasibl...

Arrow Season Five Final Thoughts

Image
What an amazing season this was!  I know we had some angst in the beginning,  but I  felt satisfied by the ending.  The showrunners gave us an incredible season with a cliffhanger  ending  that will  make us all want to  tune in  in October.  I  thought I would go over the year looking  at the low points and the  high points and points in between.      The Low Points:  For me, the start of the season seemed a little rocky and off kilter.  I think that's because we found Felicity with Billy Malone, yet the viewer had no kind of connection to Billy.  The writers didn't give us reason to care for Billy. Felicity certainly found a rebound  romance to fill the void of Oliver.  Yet she could never even say the word "boyfriend" in front of Oliver.  We felt sympathy with Oliver, who had  no idea that Billy even existed.  The viewer was  left thinking, "Where  ...
