Past Sins: Arrow 711 Review

Image
This episode  finally puts Robert Queen to rest.  For the past 6 1/2 seasons Oliver has dealt with the  legacy  that Robert Queen  left him. At first Oliver wanted to right his father's wrongs by crossing names  of a  list that Robert kept.  Later Oliver learned from both John Diggle  and Felicity Smoak that there could  be a different way,  and Felicity helped him into the light by showing  him he was a different man from Robert Queen.  In this episode  Oliver  publicly faces the truth about what Robert did in the boat to Dave Hackett.  From here on out Oliver can focus  on what it kind of legacy he will leave for his children.  He can  focus on what kind of  man he wants to be.             Oliver and  Felicity:   Oliver and  Felicity are in a good  place. What I liked so far about th...

My Name is Emiko Queen: Arrow 710 Review

Image
For me the episode was rather ho-hum and a bit of a let down.  I suppose after waiting a long time for the return of Arrow and especially after the Elseworlds episode,  anticipation grew high for viewers.  From reading posts it seems the majority felt a let down.  Many felt that Oliver and Felicity were sidelined.  It's my understanding that Stephen had been filming the crossover, so perhaps there was little time for him to have a full leading role.  I feel the major reason for this episode was to set up the rest of the season.  Let's dig in.                      Oliver and Felicity:  Oliver now works with SCPD, which has to be a  whole new dynamic for  him.  He's  tasked with finding the  new Green  Arrow.  He's provided  a blood  sample  and so he brings it home to ...

Some Thoughts on the Second Half of Arrow Season 7

Image
Some of my readers have expressed concern over the way season seven has taken a darker turn than past seasons.  I will concur with that assessment given the very lengthy prison episodes and the flash forwards show a much different Star City than we thought might be twenty years into the future. The second half the season should bring us more light if only for the reason that Oliver and Felicity are together again. Even though Oliver and Felicity have both changed, they have come through this trial stronger.  They will be stronger together, and each will understand the other better.  This is not to say they won't have struggles, they will, but they will survive.  Oliver has an understanding of just what his parents were like, but I think Emiko's appearance will still be a bit of a struggle for him.  He always wants to help, and I think he will reach out to her, but I'm not sure how accepting she will ...
