Answering some Question about 511 and 512 of Arrow

Image
I have had some questions asked about some Arrow episodes. One of from a reader of this blog, and although I answered her, I thought it was a good idea to answer it again a blog post.  The other was a question asked on Facebook and I thought it worth answering here.  Let's get to it, shall we?          From episode 511,  the question concerned Rory's saying that Dinah was bashert, which means kismet or fate. Some folks are worried that this means that Dinah and Oliver are meant to be together as a romantic couple.  If you look again at the episode, within the first few minutes you see Rory looking at the person Curtis found that could take the place of Laurel's Black Canary, whom we now know is Dinah.   When Curtis shows the team Dinah's picture, Rory says that it was bashert or fate.  The questioner on Facebook seemed to think that it was meant for Oliver and Dinah to be together.  In context, Rory was saying that because t...

Arrow 512 The Bratva Review

Many good, positive things happened in this episode and some not so good.  Let's begin: Diggle:  Diggle's darkness began last season when he killed his brother.  The guilt of that led Diggle to a dark place where he questions his values.  Diggle beats a man to get he information he wants a bout the nuke that Walker wants to fire.  Oliver had seen the man first, but refrained from beating him. He wanted to give the man time to think, but Diggle cannot wait.  As Diggle is doing this, Rory questions Felicity on what she has done, when Oliver comes in to talk.  Rory told Felicity that when his father had given him the rags he said to "respect and guard the power and don't abuse it, clearly he thinks Felicity is abusing the power she has with the computer.  Oliver interrupts then and Rory says,"I think she's crossed the line."  Oliver gives Felicity a look of concern but runs to Diggle because of what's happened. Diggle has beaten the informant,...

Arrow Review: Penance 504

Image
Tonight Oliver breaks Diggle out of prison. The episode theme is Penance, voluntary self-punishment for a wrong done.  Diggle is wrongfully in a military prison, but he thinks he belongs there because of Andy. Prison serves as penance. Oliver knows that even though John did kill Andy, and should pay for it, he wants him to do penance as  Spartan, and not for a crime that he did not commit.  So Lyla enlists Oliver to help.  I love the relationship she has with her husband. She stands behind him, and wants to save him. Lyla wants to save her husband from himself, even  if they have to live a life on the run.  I love her persistence, and isn't that what love in a marriage is all about.  Does anyone else wonder if Tobias Church  is somehow involved with John being in prison?  Not that he knows who John Diggle is, but perhaps he has a connection with the one did. Did anyone else wonder that? As  I have said before I think trust is ...
