Emily's Departure and the Aftermath

Image
To say that  we  were  all shocked to  hear on Saturday, March 30th, that Emily  Bett Rickards  would leave Arrow at the  end  to this current season, would  be  an understatement.  Many were ready to  quit watching, some blamed  Stephen Amell, and some  even  blamed Emily for not waiting to start her next project until the  shortened season  8 ended.  It's always sad when  a show towards the  end  loses main characters  that we have  all grown  to love.  You can switch  actors in movies with sequels because so much time passes  between the sequels that viewers  adjust more readily.  However, television is so  different, because these characters are in our homes  each week,  and the viewer becomes more invested in the characters, so  when  one  leaves, the absence is  keenly felt.      ...

Fundamentals Arrow 618 Review

Image
This ranks as one of my  all time favorite episodes.   The acting, the direction, by Ben Bray, the lighting, well, just about everything happened  like a  perfectly choreographed dance.  Stephen Amell played  his  role to perfection. I love old  movies, and one of the reasons I  do is  because so often the actors spoke pages of  dialogue  just with  their  face.  (If you've never seen Ronald  Coleman in Random Harvest, you should give it a  try.)  Very few modern actors do this with  success  and  emotion.  Stephen  Amell succeeded in this  episode.  My format will  be a little different in this review,  because this episode was unique in that I think this serves to set up the movement forward to the end  of the season. The action begins immediately.  We  see Oliver dressed as  sea...

Brothers in Arms: Arrow 617 Review

Image
I enjoyed this episode, but I had to watch it twice and still I am confused as to why everyone seems think everything is all Oliver's fault.  We got to see a lot of David Ramsey as John Diggle, and he performed his role to perfection.  We also saw Felicity at her best as well.  It seems clear to me that we are gearing up towards not only the end of season 6, but the beginning of season 7 as well.   I hope this  blog doesn't get too long for you,  but for me there was a lot there.      Olicity:  I always like to start with Oliver and Felicity, because for me they are the heart of Arrow.  Did you notice that every time Felicity left the room she always touched Oliver at his heart.  She is his core. She reminds of him of who he is and what they have together.  I loved the humor at the beginning of  the episode.  She's dressed in bright yellow (this woman can wear every col...

Felicity in Central City for Girls Night Out

Image
Last evening on the  Flash, Felicity went to Central City for the Bachlorette party for Iris West. The episode was enjoyable in part to Emily Bett Rickards' performance as Felicity Smoak. Her comedic timing is impeccable.  Arrow fans  looked  for any clues, and of course we found a couple. At the restaurant after toasting the future Mrs. West-Allen, the ladies asked when Felicity and  Oliver would marry.  She said, "The last time we tried that Oliver got an arrow," or something like that.  Later at a night club where the "love drug" had been distributed Felicity mentioned that she was engaged. Is she engaged?  Does she consider herself engaged, or was that a ruse to defect?  As to the rest of the episode, Caitlin played to perfection by Danielle Panabaker, belonged to her story.  We learned more about Killer Frost and Caitlin's personalities.  Each one is afraid of the other one, that gave a...
