Review Arrow 519: Felicity Smoak vs Oliver Queen
Just a note: I live in Arizona, and the Sawmill fire has taken out the transponder of the CW station, so not even Dish or Direct TV can get the station in our area. Please keep the firefighters in prayer. Our sky looks cloudy but it is the smoke from the fire. There are high winds today so prayers are needed. Anyway, I can only watch the CW app, which comes out the next day. Sorry for my review being late. Oliver and Felicity: This episode broke my heart, because Felicity and Oliver are at odds with each other. The paradox is though they are fighting the same enemies, they have different ways to go about it. What is so so heart-wrenching is that you can not only see the love they have for each other but you can feel it. After Felicity announces that Helix can get information on Chase, Oliver, Diggle, and Lyla tell her she can't do it this way. Diggle asks her if she is on their side, and she responds she is on the side that will get Chase, and she thinks Helix can do it. When she leaves, Oliver laments that someone has to stop her, and Diggle says, "I'm not the one she was going to marry." Oliver is the only one who can stop her. So he goes to her. Did you catch the comment she made to Oliver when she went to the door, "Nice to see you can use the front door." You can almost feel the love they have for each other. Their conversation was so bittersweet. She doesn't want him to have to do this alone. Always he had to do the dirty work to protect her and the others, and now she wanted to help him. He wasn't alone. Oliver appeals to her the line that Felicity told him, and that he believed, that they could find another, better way, but Felicity doesn't listen to him. Oliver is hurt that she won't listen to him. Felicity wants him to try it her way. "You'll have to stop me." That pains Oliver, because he has to do all he can to stop her.
Later when Felicity comes back with the information that pinpoint where Chase is, Oliver sits there drinking. She tells him that Helix has shut her out; they are gone, and Oliver says he's sorry. Felicity tosses this barb back that she thought he wasn't ever going to lie to her again. " He said he hadn't and he's sorry she found something with them that she couldn't find with him. Did anyone else catch that? They are beginning their talk. Felicity tell him that for five years she has trusted him, even when everything in her seemed to say it was all wrong, and yet he couldn't trust her to help. I could see her point. Chase is the most evil villain that they have ever had to deal with. I could also understand Oliver, because he knows the high price one ways. He does not want Felicity to give in to the dark side. Felicity tells him that once they have Chase, then he'll understand her, but he says, "Don't count on it." Frankly, this worried me. Could Oliver be so disappointed in her, that not even his strong love for her, would allow him to trust or forgive her? Even after they have their talk in the next episode, has she done the unforgivable in his mind?
Oliver is quick to see that they are in trouble, and his first instinct is grab Felicity. Next week is going to be so exciting.
Lyla and Diggle: Well, I was wrong about Lyla heading up Helix. She did capture without due process Cayden James, and that upset Diggle. He feels Lyla and Felicity both crossed lines, and he's hurt by that. I wonder if Diggle will have a harder time forgiving Felicity? He's upset right now with Lyla, because he thinks he has become like Amanda Waller. Do you feel that Lyla was correct in saying the job is different on the other side of the desk? To save her marriage will Lyla quit Argus, or will she promise to change? I don't want them to divorce.
Lance and Rene: I so enjoy these two characters together. Rene helps Lance with his grief, and Lance has a soft spot for Rene. I am so glad they reunited him with his daughter. Who understands better what it is like to not have his daughter in his life than Lance. He also knows the importance of having a father in a daughter's life. Some people are annoyed with Rene's nicknames, like Hoss for Lance, but it's Rene's character, and it was so cute when Zoe thanked her Pop's friend Hoss. Those scenes with Lance and Rene brought a tenderness to an otherwise darker story, and hopefully Rene survives the wrath of Chase and comes back next season.
Helix: All along the plan was to use Felicity to get Cayden James out from underArgus control. Cayden James is worse than Snowden says Lyla, and so she used illegal methods to get him. So, they used Felicity to get him out. Will Felicity regret this next season? Will Cayden James be the big bad next season? We never saw his face. Will we? What do you think?

Lyla isn't Amanda Waller, but I am not sure she'll change. Oliver and Felicity both need to talk and that is coming.
