Why the Olicity Marriage Will Be a Good Thing for Arrow

Some fans of Arrow, though happy that Oliver and Felicity are now married, they may be disappointed it didn't happen on Arrow and didn't have the beautiful wedding the fans had hoped for. If you are one of those fans, take heart, because episode 9 promises to give us the moments we savor, whether they retake their vows in front of friends, or if it's just a reception, we get the rings, the bouquet, and the beautiful cake.
The wedding we got on the crossover had the right feel for this couple. After all the angst of will they, won't they, and even the scare of Felicity vocally telling Oliver no, Felicity blurting out the question to Oliver gave the right tone. It summarized who they are as a couple. From the moment she looked at Oliver's picture, she loved him. It was during season 2 that Oliver realized he loved Felicity. They've had many moments where Oliver was in and Felicity wasn't. Each one had to find their own footing, and when Felicity finally realized that she didn't want a life without Oliver she overcame her fears and thought, Why wait? After going through something as harrowing as they did, it made sense for them to quickly seize the moment. They had already said meaningful vows in the fake wedding to get Cupid, so though a let-down for shipppers, it seemed right for the characters.
For those who had hoped Arrow would follow the comics and a Black Canary should marry Oliver, it just never jelled with the actors. There has to be a certain chemistry between actors for the story to be believed, and neither Canary had it with Oliver. Writers have to write the story for the actors who become the characters they write for. If they had followed the comics, then certainly we could see a divorce in the future of a Canary with Oliver. That would create more angst for the story. When there is a lot of turmoil among the characters, the story often does not survive.
Having a home for our hero to return too and having someone that shares in that life, will add a stabilizing quality to the show. Now Arrow, which is an ensemble show, can focus on the backstories of other characters. This will be good for Arrow and give us more stories. Also there will be a lighter element to the story, simply because our hero has happiness that he hasn't had before. When Oliver and Felicity are tempted to go too far, the other will be there to rein the other in. It will bring a new balance to Arrow, and that will be welcoming, I think.
Add to the fact that we'll see family with William and of course, I personally hope that Donna makes an appearance or two.
So, what say you? Did you feel it a right way to marry them?
